About this tool
Keep the best moment of a video as a photo: an expression, a goal, a presentation slide. Capture the frame on screen or a series of frames, at full resolution.
When to use it
Keep a photo of a filmed memory
A child's smile or a birthday moment was sometimes only filmed: capture the exact frame and print it.
Grab slides from a presentation
A series of frames every 10 seconds collects the slides of a recorded webinar for your notes.
Pick a thumbnail
For YouTube or a website, capture several frames and keep the most telling one as the thumbnail.
How to use
- Choose your video.
- Pause the player on the frame you want, or set an interval.
- Click “Capture” and download the images.
How it works
The tool decodes the video frame at the chosen moment, exactly as a player would, but at full resolution and without controls drawn on top.
In series mode, it takes one frame per interval within the selected section. Each frame is saved as JPG or PNG, named after the moment of the video it comes from.
Tips for best results
- Step frame by frame by pausing the player and using the arrow keys.
- Choose PNG for a frame with fine text, such as a slide.
- A blurry moving video gives a blurry frame: pick a moment when the subject is still.
- For a very large number of frames, narrow the section first.
- Use “Image compressor” if the captures are too heavy to send.
Common problems and fixes
The screenshot is blurry or full of controls
Capture the frame here straight from the video, at full resolution.
The captured frame is blurry
The subject was moving: try a frame just before or after.
The video won't open
Supported formats are MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV.
Frequently asked questions
What's the image quality?
Images have the video's resolution: 1920×1080 for a Full HD video, 3840×2160 for a 4K one.
JPG or PNG?
JPG is light and suits photos. PNG is lossless, useful for a frame with text, but larger.
How many frames can I extract?
Up to 100 frames per series. Adjust the interval to cover the section you want.
Is it better than a screenshot?
Yes: the frame comes straight from the video, at full resolution, without player controls or the taskbar.
