About this tool

Measure your connection speed: ping (latency), download and upload speed in a few seconds, with no app. Compare the result with your fibre, DSL, 4G or 5G plan, and test on Wi-Fi then on a cable to find what slows you down.

How to use

  1. Stop running downloads.
  2. Click “Start test”.
  3. Compare the results with your plan.

Common problems and fixes

Much slower than my plan

Test over an Ethernet cable near the router with downloads stopped. Restart the router if the gap remains.

High ping in games or calls

Busy Wi-Fi or a distant router add latency. Use 5 GHz or a cable.

Very low upload speed

Common on DSL and 4G. Fibre offers much higher upload for calls and backups.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the result lower than my plan?

Wi-Fi, other devices and the test server affect the result. Test over a cable for a value close to the maximum.

What is ping?

The round-trip time to the server. Under 50 ms is fine for gaming and video calls.

What speed do I need for 4K video?

About 25 Mbps per screen; 5 Mbps is enough for HD.

Does the test use a lot of data?

About 30 MB per full test: keep it in mind on a limited mobile plan.
