Privacy policy
Last updated: 26 October 2026
Zanakit is designed to collect as little data as possible: the tools run in your browser and most of them work without an account. This page explains exactly what is processed.
Data controller
The site's publisher (see the legal notice). Contact for your data: contact@zanakit.com.
The tools: your files stay on your device
Images, PDFs, text and code are processed by your browser: they are not sent to any server.
Exceptions, each one stated on the page concerned:
- The speed test exchanges meaningless data with our server to measure your connection.
- “My IP address” asks our server for the address and country it sees; they are not stored.
- Speech to text, and some text-to-speech voices, go through your browser's service (Google, Apple or Microsoft depending on the browser), under that provider's rules.
- “Save to my space” (members) uploads the file you choose, at your request, to keep it for 7 days.
Without an account
No personal data is stored on our servers. Tool history, notepad, habit tracker, expense splitter and your preferences are kept only in your browser (local storage); you can erase them by clearing the site's data in your browser.
A health check report shared by link is contained in the link itself: it is not sent to our servers.
With an account
We store:
- Your email address, username, display name, language and, if you provide them, photo, bio and country.
- Your password, only in encrypted form (bcrypt); with Google, your Google account identifier, name and photo.
- Your forum content (questions, answers, comments, reactions, images, device sheet if you attach it), favourites, subscriptions, notifications, reputation and badges.
- Your tool history: tool used, date, file name, type and size (never their content). You can turn it off and erase it in your settings.
- For security: the list of your sessions (browser used) and a log of important actions (sign-in, posting…) with an encrypted fingerprint of the IP address, never the address itself.
Why (legal bases)
- Providing the account, the forum and “my space”: performance of the terms of use you accept.
- Securing the site, fighting abuse and spam, moderating the forum: legitimate interest.
- Measuring audience with Google Analytics: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
How long
- Account and content: as long as the account exists; public content may remain visible in anonymised form after the account is deleted.
- Tool history and read notifications: 90 days.
- Security log: 180 days. Sessions: 30 days at most.
- Files in “my space”: 7 days. Images added but never posted: 24 hours.
- Health check reports saved without being attached to the forum: 1 year.
Recipients and providers
Your data is never sold or rented. Only the publisher can access it, along with the following providers for hosting:
- Cloudflare (website, domain name, file storage);
- Google Cloud (application server, Belgium region);
- PingCAP's TiDB Cloud (database, Frankfurt region);
- Google (sign-in with Google if you choose it; Google Analytics if you accept it).
- Content posted on the forum (username, messages, images) is public.
Transfers outside the European Union
Cloudflare and Google may process data outside the European Union, notably in the United States. These transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You can access, correct or erase your data, get a copy (portability), restrict or object to its use, and withdraw your consent. Write to contact@zanakit.com from your account's email address; we answer within one month. Account deletion is requested at the same address.
If you believe your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (cnil.fr), or the authority of your country.
Minimum age
Creating an account is reserved for people aged 15 and over. The tools can be used by anyone without an account.
Changes
This policy may change, for example if a new feature processes other data. The update date is shown at the top of the page; members will be notified of significant changes.
