About this tool
Drop a PDF to get one image per page, as JPG or PNG and at the resolution you choose. All the images download at once in a ZIP file. The document is drawn by your browser: it is never uploaded.
When to use it
Posting a page on social media
Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and WhatsApp don't display PDFs. A poster, menu or invitation converted to JPG shares like a photo.
Inserting a document into a presentation
A report page, diagram or invoice converted to PNG drops into PowerPoint, Google Slides, Word or a website without needing a PDF reader.
Uploading to a form that only takes images
Some government or rental sites only accept JPG or PNG. Convert the relevant page of your document into an image.
How to use
- Drop your PDF.
- Choose the format, resolution and pages.
- Download the ZIP or the images one by one.
How it works
The PDF is opened with pdf.js, Firefox's PDF engine, which draws each page in your browser exactly as on screen: text, images, vector graphics and embedded fonts. The chosen resolution sets the number of pixels: at 150 dpi, an A4 page gives an image of about 1,240 × 1,754 pixels.
Each page is then saved as JPG, lighter and suited to photos, or PNG, lossless and sharper for text and diagrams. When several pages are converted, they are bundled into a ZIP file created on your device.
Tips for best results
- Choose 150 dpi for screens and social media, 300 dpi for printing.
- Prefer PNG for a page with lots of small text or a diagram: it stays perfectly sharp.
- Only convert the pages you need (for example 2-3) to save time on a long document.
- To reduce a PDF's size without turning it into images, use “Compress PDF” instead.
- For the reverse, “Images to PDF” gathers photos into a single PDF.
Common problems and fixes
Images are blurry
The resolution is too low for your use: start again at 200 or 300 dpi.
Files are very large
Choose JPG and 150 dpi: an A4 page then usually weighs between 150 and 400 KB.
“This PDF is password-protected”
Open it with its password in your PDF reader, save an unprotected copy, then convert that copy.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF sent to a server?
No. Pages are drawn by your browser; the file never leaves your device.
Which resolution should I choose?
150 dpi for screens, the web and social media; 300 dpi for printing or zooming into details.
JPG or PNG?
JPG for a light file, especially with photos; PNG for perfectly sharp text and diagrams.
Is there a page limit?
No, only your device's memory matters. On a phone, convert very long documents in parts.
