How it works
Each unit is defined by its value in the base unit of its quantity (meter, kilogram, liter…), using the exact international definitions: an inch is exactly 2.54 cm, a pound 0.45359237 kg.
Temperatures go through kelvin, since their scales have different zeros. Results are rounded to 10 significant digits to avoid floating-point display glitches.
Tips for best results
- US and UK gallons and pints differ: check where your recipe comes from.
- A manufacturer's GB (1000³ bytes) is smaller than the GiB (1024³) shown by some systems: hence the gap in disk capacity.

Common problems and fixes
My drive shows less than its capacity
Manufacturers count in GB (1000³ bytes), systems in GiB (1024³). Convert GB to GiB to find the displayed value.
The temperature conversion looks wrong
A temperature difference does not convert like a temperature: a 10 °C difference is an 18 °F difference, not 50 °F.
The number is refused
Type only the number, without a unit; dots and commas both work.
