About this tool
This speaker test plays a sound on the left, the right and the centre to check the stereo of your speakers, headphones or earbuds. Spot a silent side, swapped channels or a wrong balance setting, on a computer or a phone.
How to use
- Set the volume to a comfortable level.
- Click Left, Right, then Centre.
- Tell us whether each sound came from the right side.
Common problems and fixes
Only one side works
Check the left/right balance in your sound settings and push the jack all the way in; reconnect Bluetooth headphones.
Left and right are swapped
The headphones are on backwards or the speakers are plugged into the wrong outputs. Swap the cables.
No sound at all
Choose the right audio output (speakers, HDMI, Bluetooth), make sure the tab is not muted and raise the system volume.
Frequently asked questions
The sound comes from the wrong side, is that bad?
The headset is probably on backwards, or the system left/right balance is off. Check the audio settings.
I hear nothing at all.
Check the volume, the audio output selected by the system (Bluetooth, HDMI…) and that the tab is not muted.
Does it work with Bluetooth earbuds?
Yes. A slight delay is normal Bluetooth latency.
Why does the centre sound louder?
It plays on both sides at once: that is expected.
