About this tool

How to use
- Clean the screen, then click “Start”.
- Tap the screen or press Space to change colour.
- Look for dots that do not change colour. Press Esc to exit.
Common problems and fixes
A dot stays black on every colour
That is a dead pixel and it cannot be fixed. Check the manufacturer's warranty, which often sets a minimum number.
A dot stays red, green or blue
That is a stuck pixel: it sometimes recovers after showing fast-changing colours for a few minutes.
Light halo on a black screen
That is backlight bleed, common on LCD screens; judge it in a dark room.
Frequently asked questions
Dead pixel or stuck pixel?
A dead pixel stays black; a stuck pixel stays a bright colour. A stuck pixel can sometimes recover.
How many dead pixels are acceptable?
It depends on the manufacturer's warranty; on a new screen, even one may justify a return with some brands.
How do I exit full screen?
Press Esc or tap the “Exit” button in the top-right corner.
Should I clean the screen first?
Yes: dust looks like a dead pixel. A microfibre cloth is enough.
