About this tool

Add a title, caption, date or message to your photos. Each text is placed with the mouse or your finger, with its own font, color, outline, shadow, background box and rotation. Everything happens in your browser: your photos stay on your device.

When to use it

Caption a holiday or family photo

Add the place and date to a photo before sending or printing it: white text with a soft shadow stays readable on a sky as well as on a landscape.

Make a visual for a shop or a club

Announce a sale, opening hours or an event right on a photo of a product or place, with an eye-catching colored box, without photo-editing software.

Annotate a screenshot

Paste a screenshot (Ctrl+V), then add notes next to the important parts for a tutorial, a bug report or instructions for a colleague.

How to use

  1. Choose a photo (or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V).
  2. Type your text, then set the font, size and color.
  3. Drag the text on the preview to place it; add more texts if needed.
  4. Click “Create image” and download it.

How it works

The image is drawn in a canvas, the browser's drawing surface, then each text is written on top with the canvas text functions: automatic line wrapping, outline, shadow and background box are recomputed on every change, which keeps the preview instant.

Sizes and positions are stored relative to the image, not in pixels: a text you place on the small preview lands exactly in the same spot on the full-resolution image. Only very large photos (over 16 million pixels) are slightly reduced, because phone browsers cannot draw beyond that.

Tips for best results

  • On a bright photo, prefer white text with a black outline, or dark text on a semi-transparent white box.
  • For a clean look, stick to two fonts and two colors per image.
  • Keep a margin around the text: social networks sometimes crop the edges of images.
  • For a social media photo, first pick the right format with “Resize image”, then add the text.
  • Save as PNG if the image contains a lot of fine text: letters stay perfectly sharp.

Common problems and fixes

The font looks different on another device

Fonts come from your system: another device uses its closest font. The downloaded image, however, looks exactly like your preview.

I can't grab a small text

Select it in the “Texts” list, then set its position with the sliders, or with the arrow keys after focusing the preview.

The text wraps too early

Increase “Width before wrapping” in the text's advanced settings, or reduce its size.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add several texts to the same image?

Yes, as many as you like: each one has its own font, color, size, rotation and position. The “Bring forward” and “Send backward” buttons set which one is on top.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The text is drawn by your browser, directly on your device: the photo never leaves your computer or phone.

Is the photo quality preserved?

The image is saved at its original size (up to 16 million pixels). PNG is lossless; with JPG or WebP at 92% quality, there is no visible difference.

How do I make text readable on a busy photo?

Add an outline or a shadow, or tick “Background box behind the text”: a semi-transparent rectangle separates the text from the photo, as in the “On a dark box” and “Yellow label” quick styles.

Can I use my own fonts?

The tool uses the fonts installed on your device, with nothing to download. The seven families offered (modern, classic, Impact, narrow, rounded, handwritten, typewriter) pick the closest available font.
