How it works
An MP4 usually stores sound as AAC. The tool extracts this track without touching the frames, then decodes it to raw audio.
The sound is then encoded to MP3 by a LAME encoder compiled for the browser, at the chosen bitrate. The resulting file has the same name as the video, with the .mp3 extension.
Tips for best results
- 192 kbps suits almost all music.
- For a talk, 128 kbps halves the size with no audible difference.
- A video without sound can't be converted: check it in the player.
- For a smaller format than MP3, use “Extract audio” with M4A.
- To keep only one section, trim the video before converting.
