How to use
- Create your signature (drawing, name or image).
- Drop the PDF and place the signature on the page.
- Click “Sign the PDF” and download it.
How it works
The signature is created on a drawing pad, from your name written in a handwriting font, or from an image whose white background can be made transparent. It is then cropped automatically and saved as a transparent PNG.
The PDF is displayed with pdf.js so you can place the signature visually. When you sign, pdf-lib adds the signature to the page at the exact spot chosen, taking rotated pages into account. The rest of the document is untouched and everything happens in your browser.
Tips for best results
- Draw your signature large in the pad: it will be scaled down to the right size on the page.
- For an uploaded signature, photograph it on a well-lit white sheet and tick “Make the white background transparent”.
- Check the signed PDF before sending it, especially that the signature is on the right page.
- For a deed that requires a qualified electronic signature (eIDAS), use a certified signing service.
- Keep a copy of the unsigned document in case it needs changes.
Common problems and fixes
The uploaded signature has a grey background
The photo was too dark: retake it in better light and tick “Make the white background transparent”, or draw your signature.
The signature is in the wrong place
Change page with the arrows, click where you want it and drag the signature; adjust its size with the slider.
The typed style doesn't look handwritten
Handwriting fonts depend on your device: try another style, or draw your signature.
