About this tool
The Pomodoro Technique alternates 25 minutes of focus with 5-minute breaks, and a longer break every four sessions. Start the timer, let the alarm guide you and track today's sessions.
When to use it
Studying and revising
Short, regular blocks help you stay focused on a chapter without burning out, and breaks help you remember.
Tackling a task you keep putting off
“Just 25 minutes” is easier to start than an endless task: that is the whole point of the method.
Working from home
Regular breaks remind you to stand up, drink water and rest your eyes from the screen.
How to use
- Pick a phase or keep “Focus”.
- Press Start.
- Take a break when the alarm rings.
How it works
The timer stores the planned end time and compares it with the device clock: it stays accurate even when the tab is in the background. The time left also shows in the tab title.
At the end of each phase, your browser plays a short alarm, and the next phase starts if auto-start is on. Today's completed sessions are counted on this device.
Tips for best results
- During a session, jot distractions on paper instead of acting on them.
- Adjust the durations: 50/10 suits some deep work better.
- During breaks, step away from the screen.
- Keep the tab open: the alarm cannot ring if the page is closed.
- On a phone, keep the screen on, as some systems mute sleeping pages.
Common problems and fixes
I can't hear the alarm
Check the volume and that the tab is not muted. Use “Test” in the settings to try the sound.
The timer stopped on my phone
When the phone sleeps, the system may suspend the page. Time stays accurate when you return, but the alarm may have been missed.
The session count is zero
It resets every day and is specific to this device and browser.
