About this tool
Turn an iPhone MOV video into an MP4 that plays everywhere, or convert between MP4, WebM, MOV and MKV. When possible, frames are copied with no quality loss, in seconds.
When to use it
Play an iPhone video on Windows or Android
iPhone MOV videos don't always open on a PC or in some apps. As MP4, they play everywhere.
Put a video on a website
MP4 and WebM are the formats every browser plays: convert the video before embedding it.
Import into an editor
Some editing apps reject WebM or MKV from screen recorders: an MP4 or MOV imports without trouble.
How to use
- Choose your video.
- Pick the output format: MP4, WebM, MOV or MKV.
- Click “Convert” and download the file.
How it works
A video file is a “container” (MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV) wrapping a picture track and a sound track compressed with a codec (H.264, VP9, AAC, Opus…). Changing format first means changing the wrapper.
If the video's codecs are accepted by the new container, the tool copies the data without re-compressing it: fast and lossless. Otherwise, say H.264 to WebM, frames are re-encoded with the right codec by the browser's video engine.
Tips for best results
- When in doubt, pick MP4: it's the most compatible format.
- For a video that's too large, use “Video compressor” instead, which also outputs MP4.
- Untick “Keep sound” for a silent demo video.
- WebM is ideal for a website background video, often smaller at equal quality.
- To keep only the sound, use “MP4 to MP3”.

Frequently asked questions
Which format should I pick?
MP4 plays everywhere: it's the right choice almost always. WebM is mostly for the web, MOV for the Apple ecosystem and MKV for archiving.
Is quality preserved?
Yes. When the codec fits the new format, frames are copied as is, with no loss; otherwise they're re-encoded at high quality.
Can I convert an AVI?
No, browsers don't support AVI. Supported formats are MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV.
Why is conversion sometimes instant?
An H.264 iPhone MOV converts to MP4 without re-encoding: only the file's container changes.
