About this tool
Turn any image into a meme: white outlined text at the top and bottom, a caption on a white band as on social media, or a “demotivational” poster on black. The text size adjusts automatically, and the meme copies in one click to paste into a conversation. Everything stays on your device.
When to use it
Liven up a group chat
Make a meme about an inside joke in seconds, then copy it and paste it straight into WhatsApp, Discord, Slack or Teams.
Illustrate a presentation or a class
A well-chosen meme relaxes a meeting or sums up an idea in one image. The “demotivational” layout looks clean on a slide.
Social media for a brand or a club
Memes with a caption on top are among the most shared formats: reuse your own photos for original content with no rights issues.
How to use
- Choose an image, paste it (Ctrl+V) or start from a plain background.
- Pick a layout: classic, caption on top or demotivational.
- Type your texts: their size adjusts automatically.
- Create the meme, then download it or copy it to paste into a chat.
How it works
The meme is composed in a browser canvas. In the classic layout, the tool tries smaller and smaller text sizes until the text fits, with automatic line wrapping, then places it at an equal distance from the edges. The “caption” and “demotivational” layouts enlarge the canvas to make room for the text.
The output is limited to 1,600 pixels wide, plenty for social networks while keeping the file light. The “Copy image” button puts the meme on the clipboard as a PNG, ready to paste.
Tips for best results
- A good meme uses few words: the setup at the top, the punchline at the bottom.
- Use sharp images that are not too busy at the top and bottom, where the text goes.
- For a personal reaction, start from one of your own photos: the meme will be original and rights-free.
- JPG is fine for sharing; choose PNG if the meme is mostly text.
- Without an image, start from a plain background to make a quote or an announcement in big letters.
Common problems and fixes
The text isn't in the Impact font
Impact is not installed on some Android phones and on Linux: the closest bold font is used instead.
The “Copy image” button doesn't appear
Your browser cannot copy images (some older versions): download the meme and share the file.
The text is too small
Shorten it or increase “Text size” in the text style. Very long text is reduced to fit the image.
Frequently asked questions
Which font do memes use?
The classic meme font is Impact, in white capitals with a black outline. The tool uses it when it is installed, otherwise the closest bold font.
Is the text sized automatically?
Yes. In the classic layout, the top and bottom text shrinks until it fits the width and a quarter of the image's height. The “Text size” slider makes it larger or smaller.
Can I add text elsewhere on the image?
Yes, with “Add text”: these free texts can go anywhere, placed with the mouse or your finger, with their own style.
Is there a watermark?
No, no watermark or logo is added to your memes.
Can I use any image?
The tool works with any of your images, but the image remains subject to its author's rights: prefer your own photos or royalty-free images for public or commercial use.
